Early today, I was on YouTube when this video about the self publishing process came up. I cannot remember the woman’s name, but when doing her editing she mentioned she used Grammarly.

Now, I have seen the commercials a time or two, but always ignored them. I honestly just didn’t feel the need to spend the money. She mentioned that using Grammarly was free, and that was all she wrote!

I copied and tried pasting my whole novel in the web version that did not require an account. Didn’t work, said my request was too many characters and that the max allowed was like 100,000. My novel is a tad-bit longer than that, so I decided to see if with an account I got more leverage. I took a moment to sign up for an account, and repeated the copy/paste process again.

Still no dice.

Wanting to see how it worked, I decided to just copy and paste a portion of my novel (5 chapters) and see what happens.

This time it worked, and I was given basic access to all the things Grammarly found wrong. It picked up on spelling, grammar, punctuation, and conventions for free review. There were a lot of other things the system discovered, but you needed a premium account for that. I’m not quite there yet for a paid account, but I am thoroughly impressed with the free one.

Before Tempted is published, I am going to run all the chapters through for any items I missed that Grammarly catches. So far, I am digging it. In the future, I probably will invest in a premium subscription. Definitely will be worth the investment as I increase my writing.

By the way, Grammarly isn’t paying me or even know that I exist. I get nothing if you try it, so try it! You have nothing to lose.
